Marselino “Mars” Torres was honored as Big Brother of the Year and Jamie Shawn was honored as Big Sister of the Year. Mars and Jamie received letters from their Littles that reflected the children’s appreciation of them.
Steven Reese, Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) Executive Director, stated, “Mars and Jamie are the epitome of what our agency stands for. They have gone above and beyond in making a difference in their Little’s life.”
BBBS mentoring programs are volunteer-driven and depend on the support of the community to serve the children in the Panhandle. The organization is dedicated to matching children between the ages of six and fourteen with qualified volunteer mentors for the development of positive life skills and social values.
