An awards reception will honor area Big Sister Jamie Shawn as the Texas State Big Sister of the Year.

Ms. Shawn was announced as the state’s winner after being voted on by a committee of seven that included last year’s Texas Big Brother of the Year and Texas Attorney General Gregg Abbott.
