School-Based Program
This program known as Bigs in School is a cooperative effort between the Amarillo Independent School District, Canyon Independent School District, West Texas A&M University, and BBBS. Students at Bowie Middle School and Emerson Elementary in Amarillo and Rex Reeves/Oscar Hinger in Canyon are currently being served. BBBS provides volunteers to work with students one-to-one for one hour per week on the school’s campus. These relationships are focused on the needs of the mentored child. The goal is to provide children who are not living up to their potential with encouragement and support from a positive adult role model.
